The National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and Institute of Fitness Ghana have formed a strategic partnership to offers fitness professionals in Ghana and across West Africa the ability to learn cutting-edge performance assessment techniques and sport-specific program design. Since 1987, the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) has been a global leader in providing evidence-based certifications and advanced specializations for fitness professionals. In addition to its NCCA-accredited Certified Personal Trainer course, NCCA-accredited Group Fitness Instructor Course and Certificate in Nutrition Coaching, NASM offers a progressive career track with access to continuing education and specializations including the Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), Fitness Nutrition Specialist (FNS) and Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES). Academic institutions nationwide incorporate NASM’s leading fitness content into their curriculum as part of personal trainer courses (leading to CPT certification), and bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. The Institute of Fitness Ghana (IFG) was registered as a company in Accra, Ghana in 2018. The company founding members, Samed Brimah and Caterina Sestili identified a gap in the Ghanaian fitness industry sector for quality formal health and fitness vocational training to improve the quality of fitness instruction and to expand employment pathways within the Ghanaian health and fitness industry. Samed Brimah, a Ghanaian National and a qualified health professional has worked in the health sectors in the UK and Australia and hence recognises the value of developing consistent industry standards for the training and qualification of health and fitness professionals. Sam is passionate about bringing back his knowledge and experience to his homeland, to add value to the country he loves by improving the health and wealth of the people and country he loves.
